The Empress card from the forthcoming Wizards Tarot is actually a portrait of Corrine Kenner by artist John Blumen.

About the Tarot for Writers Book

Most people think of tarot cards as a fortune-telling device, but they’re also an excellent tool for writing and creative thinking. Writers from John Steinbeck to Stephen King have used tarot cards for inspiration, and Italian novelist Italo Calvino went so far as to call the tarot “a machine for writing stories."

There are 78 cards in a standard tarot deck, and each one is packed with archetypal images and symbols. Some of them hearken back to ancient myths and legends, while others are as fresh and contemporary as today’s news.

About the Author

Author and Certified Tarot Master
I've written ten books and edited four anthologies, including Tarot for Writers, Simple Fortunetelling with Tarot Cards, The Ma'at Tarot Workbook, Tarot Journaling, The Epicurean Tarot, The Symbolist, and Crystals for Beginners. One of my books, Tall Dark Stranger: Tarot for Love and Romance, was a COVR Visionary Award finalist, marking it as one of the top three divination books of 2006. I'm currently working on a book and deck set called the Wizards Tarot. Some of my books have been translated for a worldwide audience; they're available in Portuguese, Italian, and Russian.

My Background
I was born in Minnesota and raised on a farm in North Dakota. In my late teens and early twenties, I lived in Brazil and Los Angeles, where I earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from California State University. For the first part of my career I worked as a newspaper reporter, magazine editor, and media relations specialist. Now I live in Minneapolis with my husband, a software developer, and our four daughters who range in age from nineteen to six.

Classes and Workshops
I regularly teach tarot classes and workshops, both online and in person. My students love my sense of humor and my practical approach to the cards. Click here to see if I'm scheduled to appear at an event near you.

Private Readings
I offer private tarot readings for writers who want to brainstorm and boost their creativity with the cards. We can meet in person in my south Minneapolis office, or we can schedule a session online or by phone. For details, click here.
